Naegi Makoto
The main character is Makoto Naegi. He is a normal high school student but he got into Hope's Peak Academy because the academy holds a raffle for the Ultimate Lucky Student/Luckster. He actually holds no other significant talent but he is a lot more optimistic that most people which ends up being a key trait to his personality and helps the group of students get through despair. At the end of the game, he ends up being the Ultimate Hope as he defeats the mastermind behind Monokuma and helps all of the surviving students choose Hope over Despair, allowing them to escape the school and kill the Mastermind. In the true ending, Makoto and the rest of the survivors joined the Future Foundation. He makes an appearance in the sequel to help the other survivors escape.
